Is it time to update your bathroom? If your bathroom is outdated and the function is less than motivating, we are here for you!
In this blog, we are going to talk about the primary bathroom, but the underlying process can be used for any bathroom in your home. The key is planning it out completely before you start and sometimes this is where another set of eyes can be the most helpful. Bring in the big guns…Uniquely Yours Home to the rescue!
Plan It Out!
You've been dreaming of turning your bathroom into a spa-like oasis, but you are not sure where to start. STOP dreaming and start doing! Start by making notes, or even a list, put down your thoughts, your wants, your dislikes, how you want the space to feel, and even the colors you are thinking of, this way you are prepared for a contractor to bid on the space.
Based on the wish list for this space, the entire room needed to be demo'd and reconfigured. We removed the corner tub and replaced it with a freestanding tub that took up less floor space. The footprint of the shower could not be made larger, so we removed the top portion of the wall and replaced it with glass. This gives the illusion of a larger shower without changing the square footage. By removing the cabinet, we were able to move the toilet to open up the floor space. Lastly, we said goodbye to the golden oak with a new vanity!
The Selection Process!
Selections include finishes for the floor, walls, cabinetry, hardware, and even paint! The selection process is when you get to see, feel, and experience materials coming together. It’s a sample-size view of what’s to come to create your vision. During this phase of the process, you get to play around and change it up, all prior to committing to the materials and placing the orders.
Take your time on this step, lay out the materials in your space so you can see it throughout the day if different lighting. If additional tiles or a bigger paint sample is needed, purchase them, lay them out and really get the feel of it.
Make the Commitment!
When you know, you know. Commit to the materials and let the purchasing begin! You will want to purchase all the materials that are anchored in place first to make sure everything that you planned and selected is available and fits into your timeline when it comes to delivery.
Finishing touches such as accessories, hardware, artwork, etc. should wait until later as these pieces are easier to come by and will not be utilized until the very end.
