How to Decorate Your Mantel

Bite 1: The Anchor, is your biggest bite!

This piece is special, it takes up the most space above your mantel and you guessed it, it anchors your eye on where to look. Sometimes your anchor is determined by the need and placement of your TV, this is a functional anchor. Add a little fun and step up your decorating game by framing out your TV! This is a perfect solution for elevating your anchor.

Now for those of you who do not have to have a functional anchor, you have choices! Don’t we all love choices? Naturally, the artwork is a great anchor, it comes in various styles and sizes, so you should be able to find something that will fit here perfectly.

We like a nice wall border around the mantel and anchor so choose something that is about 75% or less of your open wall space when you are looking for the right size, but do not go too small, it still needs to play its role. Bite 2: The weight, it’s the counterbalance to your anchor!

Pro Tip: Use the same items but in different sizes, place the largest one on one side and the medium and smallest one on the other, this gives you balance but changes up the visual.
