What is a Forever Home?

The Forever Home… This is not something we have talked about much or advertised for. We have been working on this idea for a while now; wanting to be sure it was “just right” before we threw it out to the world.

Over the past year we have had a few clients with medical deficits or progressive diseases that have contacted us for design consulting/remodeling. We needed to design their home to not only be pleasing to the eye, but keep in mind any possible limitations they may have so the design would function for them in their daily lives. The idea that our design allowed people to stay in the homes they love was so fulfilling. The Forever Home concept began to bloom…

We decided to pursue certification through the National Association of Home Builders- NAHB as Certified Aging in Place Specialist _ CAPS. This program was developed by the NAHB in collaboration with Home Innovations Research Labs, NAHB 50+ Housing Council and AARP. Ashley has been certified in CAPS and also has a background in physical therapy and home care services. She has been trained to make modification of your home to allow you to age in place.

What makes us different? We not only have the knowledge and background to make modifications to your home, but we also bring our design expertise to make sure that these modification blend seamlessly into the look of your home.

Here is a photo of one of our Forever Home modifications. Notice how the heavy mixer is on a easy to pull out shelf so the client can continue to do her love of baking. There is also an outlet inside the cupboard for ease of use.
